Organic Growing Is Perfect For Industrial Hemp

The best way to grow industrial hemp with the greatest biomass and highest percentage of CBD is by using organic growing methods.  Hemp was grown organically for hundreds of years in this country before the 1950s because synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides did not exist until the last 75 years.  Prior to the modern age of agriculture, growers had to rely on animal manure, compost, crop residuals and crop rotation to provide the nutrients needed to grow healthy hemp.   Today we can use those “old school” organic inputs, but build on those traditional methods by using new organic products that science has proven benefit plants in ways we are just starting to understand.

Farm Bill- Hemp Legalization

The 2019 farm bill decriminalized industrial hemp, making it legal to grow in all 50 states as of the 2019 farming season.  Currently, each state is responsible for setting their own rules and only Idaho, Mississippi, South Dakota and D.C. don’t allow some form of hemp cultivation for commercial, research or pilot programs.  From a legal perspective, cannabis plants are divided into two categories: hemp and marijuana. Plants that are very low in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound in marijuana, are classified as industrial hemp. In most cases, the amount of THC has to be below 0.3% to qualify as hemp or the total crop must be destroyed.  CBD hemp plants react to stress by producing more THC, so keeping plants healthy, strong and stress free is very important.

Phytoremediation

Phytoremediation is the process by which plants are used to clean soil by absorbing heavy metals and other toxic substances. The best example of this process is the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. In 1986, nuclear waste was spread across Ukraine rendering the land unusable. Hemp was the plant of choice to help clean and remediate the soil. This means that hemp will soak up whatever is in the soil, so treatments with any herbicide, pesticide or fungicide will ultimately be a constituent of the final CBD oil produced.

Healthy Soil Grows Healthy Plants

Outdoor growers don’t have the luxury of making a potting mix that is perfect for their plant, they must grow with the soil they have and that is why it is critical when growing industrial hemp to provide for the soil as much as the plant.  All our products are listed for use in the USDA National Organic Program and provide benefits to the soil that will be carried over season to season.  Many problems that can arise during a growing season can be solved by having healthy soil that will withstand drought and active soil biology that can cycle nutrients and provide natural protection from pests and pathogens.

How Our Products Benefit Hemp

Bio-Carbon is a dry soil amendment containing humic and fulvic acid, trace elements, several types of beneficial soil bacteria, mycorrhizae and a high percentage of soil carbon.  It is a one of a kind soil super-charger.  It can be spread prior to planting along with pre-planting dry fertilizer.

Liquid Kelp Plus is manufactured using our proprietary digestion and refinement process that produces novel compounds that are not initially found the North Atlantic kelp (ascophyllum nodosum).  It protects the plant from stress, acts as a delivery system for nutrients and increase seed germination.  It should be used as a seed treatment at planting and a foliar spray through all the growth stages.

Liquid Fish Fertilizer is a fish hydrolysate that provides protein nitrogen that will increase the Nitrogen Utilization Efficiency.  It can be applied as a foliar spray or through irrigation systems.  It contains the major nutrients along with trace elements and amino acids that have not been damage by a high heat manufacturing process.  It should be applied throughout all the growth stages.

Growth Stimulant is a liquid containing humic acid, fulvic acid and trace elements along with several types of beneficial soil bacteria.  It can be applied as a foliar spray or through irrigation systems.  It increases nutrient absorption, increases the Cation Exchange Capacity and overall plant health. It should be applied throughout all the growth stages.

Amino Acid Powder is a water-soluble powder with 80% amino acids that are the basic building blocks for proteins in a plant and will chelate locked up soil nutrients to make them plant available.  Amino acids increase the N-P-K utilization efficiency.  It can be easily mixed with water and applied as a foliar spray or through irrigation systems during the vegetative growth stage.
